Hayfield Primary Girls victorious in county trophy

The Derbyshire Schools’ Sports Association (DSSA) Small Schools Football finals saw Hayfield Primary Girls football team win convincingly over eight other county finalists.

The girls travelled to Derby to play eight games against some other strong teams but came away with a 15-2 overall score and were the clear winners on the day .

The Year 6 girls first won the local schools cluster tournament in New Mills and then went on to win the High Peak Schools Sport Partnerhship finals at Silverlands Stadium in Buxton.

A spokesperson for the school said: "This is an outstanding achievement for our village school and we are very proud of all our girl footballers and how much they have developed over the past few years.

"The team showed some superb footballing skills and fantastic attitude and team work over the course of the morning.

"They are now off to Birmingham on Wednesday 20th March for the ESFA U11 Midlands regionals finals sponsored by Pokemon.

We wish the girls all the best and hope they enjoy the experience."
