GTB takes Chicago supertri title to top table

Georgia Taylor-Brown went one better than her performance in last week’s Boston supertri Super League triathlon by winning the inaugural Chicago event.

A strong final leg saw her run clear of Crown Racing teammate and Olympic champion, Cassandre Beaugrand, crossing the line eight seconds clear of her and 3rd place finisher Taylor Spivey.

“It’s nice to be back on top as I’ve forgotten what it feels like to lift the tape,” Taylor-Brown, who has missed most of the last two seasons with injury and personal issues, said after the race. “But it’s so hot out here and all the girls did incredibly. I had to dig so deep and knew that I had to go round Taylor [Spivey] and Olivia [Mathias] and just back myself.”

GTB also leads the supertri points table with 29 points from two races, three ahead of Boston winner Jeanne Lehair, who trailed in fifth in Chicago.

She also tops the individual rankings for the running element, one point in front of Podium Racing’s Léonie Périault.

In the men’s race, Hayden Wilde had his revenge against Alex Yee, finishing ahead of Team GB’s Olympic champion, who lagged 39 seconds behind in 8th.

The next supertri event comes to London on September 8.
