Glossop's winning run grinds to a halt

Glossop’s recent run of four wins came crashing to a shuddering halt in Lancashire, as hosts Garstang sealed a comfortable victory.

The home side were quickly on the front foot as after just five minutes, they crossed for a converted try to lead 7-0.

Garstang’s powerful forwards continued to apply pressure but an interception from Captain Round saw him feed speedster Chris Sonczak to score.

Ben Dearing converted to see Glossop level the score briefly at 7-7.

Unfortunately that was as good as it got for Glossop.

Garstang immediately got their second try from the restart and converted it to lead 14-7.

The home side then got their third try, again converted to extend their lead to 21-7.

Garstang were then reduced to 14 men for ten minutes as they received a yellow card for offside.

The Hillmen couldn’t capitalise on their numerical advantage though and it was Garstang who got a further try to lead at halftime 26-7.

The impressive home forwards continued their dominance after the break and two further trys saw their lead quickly extend to 40-7.

Unfortunately for Garstang, their same player received a second yellow for offside, resulting in a red card.

Even though Garstang played the final quarter with 14 men, they got the last try of the match to take a deserved 47-7 win.

Next week Glossop host league leaders Littleborough.
