Glossop Tennis Club To Host Open Day

An open day is being held at Glossop Tennis Club next month.

Members have their fingers crossed that the weather will be warm and sunny when the club holds the event on Saturday, May 7.

There will be free coaching sessions, drills and tips on play, free family play and the opportunity to meet the Lawn Tennis Association accredited coaching team led by Alan Cutts. All equipment will be provided.

The full programme is as follows:

Ages 8 and under: 1.00 – 2.00pm

Ages 9 – 11: 2.00pm – 3.00pm

Ages 12 – 14: 3.00pm – 4.00pm

Older teenagers and adults: 3.00pm – 4.00pm

This will be followed by an adult members FUN doubles tournament 4.15 -6.15pm.

Membership at the tennis club, on Pyegrove Road, has soared in the last two years despite the pandemic and the coaching programme is incredibly popular as young and old alike move through the coaching programme and join other Members at social tennis, box leagues and competitive league tennis.

The club has three teams, one ladies and two mens, who compete in the South West Manchester Tennis League. In the last two years the ladies have won the league and been runners-up.

In 2021 the men’s second team achieved another promotion to division three and are now hard on the heels of the men’s first team in division two. Match players are busy practising as they gear up for the start of the season at the end of April.

For membership details contact Andy Millican 07500 909579.
