Glossop North End donate season ticket to Reuben's Retreat

Glossop North End demonstrated its commitment to supporting the local community by presenting a family season ticket to Reuben's Retreat.

The ticket will provide families of children with medical complexities and bereaved families with an opportunity to enjoy a day out at The Asgard Engineering Stadium, in addition to accessing the apartment facilities offered by Reuben's Retreat.

The initiative was spearheaded by GNE's Community Director Josh Hanson who, along with manager Richard Brodie, assistant manager Lew Sumner and Chairman Dave Atkinson, met with Lisa Knowles, Fundraising Champion at Reuben's Retreat, to hand over the donation and to gain insights into the invaluable work carried out by the organisation.

Reuben's Retreat, founded by Nicola Graham in 2012 following the tragic loss of her 23-month-old son Reuben, has been a pillar of support for families facing medical complexities and child loss. The charity offers a wide range of services catering to the emotional, social, and practical needs of affected families.

For families dealing with medical complexities, Reuben's Retreat provides support through various means, including organising family fun sessions, offering counselling services, facilitating peer support groups, and providing practical advice on navigating social welfare systems. Similarly, for families coping with child loss, the charity offers bereavement support, healing activities, and short restorative breaks in their on-site apartment.

Currently, Reuben's Retreat is fundraising to construct purpose-built, fully accessible apartments, aimed at providing families with children facing medical complexities an opportunity to holiday together, free of charge, and to create cherished memories.

Commenting on the donation, Glossop North End's manager Richard Brodie said, "We are delighted to support Reuben's Retreat in their mission to provide comfort and assistance to families facing challenging circumstances. The work they do is truly commendable, and we hope that our contribution will bring some joy and respite to the families they serve." Fundraising Champion Lisa Knowles added, "We are forever grateful to Glossop North End for their support. This kind donation will help provide memory making moments for our families who may face an uncertain future and for families bereaved of a child who access our services to help them remember and rebuild."

As Glossop North End continues its commitment to community engagement, fans are encouraged to stay tuned for upcoming fundraising challenges in collaboration with Reuben's Retreat, including the Great Manchester Run on Sunday 26 May.
