Glossop North End Community Club seal promotion

A triumphant return to open-age football has seen Glossop North End Community Club’s Women’s 1st Team clinch promotion in their very first season back in competitive action.

After several years away from the senior stage, the “Hillladies” have risen again—stronger than ever.

Formed from the club’s flourishing girls’ development pathway, which now proudly features teams at every age group alongside two Flexi League sides and a Vets team, the Women’s 1st Team rejoined the Greater Manchester Women’s League this season with ambition and determination.

Home matches have been held at 2pm on Sundays at The Ellen White Pitch, with away days taking the young squad across Greater Manchester.

Built on the foundation of the club’s successful Under-18s team and guided by dedicated coaches Natalie Mills and Andy Urquhart, the average age of the squad was just 18.

Despite their youth, the team produced a sensational campaign—winning 18 of 20 matches, finishing with a goal difference of +73, and narrowly missing out on the Division 3 title to Ashton on Mersey on the final day.

Their second-place finish secured a well-deserved promotion to Division 2.

Many players have been with the club since the age of 7, and the season also saw several 16-year-olds make their senior debuts.

The team’s impressive run included a Derbyshire County Cup campaign, ending only in a heartbreaking penalty shootout at the semi-final stage.

Manager Natalie Mills reflected on the season:

“This is a special group who have been either part of this club for many years or who have joined our journey and brought something new to the team. It has been a long, hard season but the girls should be very proud of the commitment they have shown.

“Togetherness in football counts for a lot, and the girls have earned the right to play at the next level. Watch this space—there is so much more to come!”

As the club looks ahead to 2025/26, recruitment is now open across all age groups.

Whether you’re looking to get back into football or are seeking a new challenge, Glossop North End Community Club welcomes players to join their thriving, inclusive football family.
