Glossop martial arts school win two golds

Matrix Martial Arts is celebrating a number of wins at the WKO Open World Championships on August 18, 2024.

The team were brilliantly coached by World Champion and Lead Instructor of Matrix Martial Arts – Glossop, Sensei Jake Johnson, 4th Dan.

Sensei Jake said: “I am so proud of our team, they put the hard work in and are reaping the rewards of their efforts.”

The winners of the WKO Open World Championships 2024 were as follows: Lucas Melling, 1st Dan - Winner - Low Kick 15-16 years M 58.1-62.0kg; Lewis Snowden - Winner - Amateur A-Class K1 (head shots all ages) 18+ years M 81-86.0kg.

Coming exceedingly close and taking the silver after some superb fights was Eddie Costa who brings home the silver medal in the Amateur A-Class K1 (head shots all ages) 18+ years M 70.1-73.0kg.

Matrix Martial Arts is a kickboxing and jiu-jitsu school based in Hadfield.

They teach from ages four upwards and have classes available for beginners upwards (and have superbly welcoming and supportive ladies only kickboxing classes two nights a week).

They have been awarded the Safeguarding tick and have been designated a club of excellence by the British Martial Arts and Boxing Academy.

They also do a lot of work for and in the community and recently donated a defibrillator to the new Glossop North End Community Club House.
