Glossop fight back to take the points

NPL South East: Glossop North End 2-1 Frickley Athletic

Glossop North End came from behind to secure three points at the Amdec Forklift Stadium on Tuesday night.  The Hillmen began the game on the front foot and looked the better side initially. Frickley then came into the game well and missed a good change to take the lead. However, a foul by Haslam gifted the opener as Margetts converted a 27th minute penalty.

The second half was a different story. The introduction of a second striker in Craig Billington unsettled the Frickley defence and gaps started to appear. On 56 minutes Bevan Burey ran onto a through ball and tucked the ball into the corner to level the score. Five minutes later, Burey struck again. He took advantage of some panicky defending and, as the ball ran loose, Bevan hit a fierce shot through a crowd of players to give Glossop the lead. Frickley had nothing much to offer in reply and Glossop saw out the game to secure their second win of the season.

Glossop are away at Lincoln United on Saturday 24th and will be at home to Workington in the FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round on Saturday 31st.
