Glossop bow out of Derbyshire Senior Cup

Derbyshire Senior Cup quarter-final: Glossop 3-3 South Normanton (South Normanton win 6-5 on penalties)

Glossop North End have been eliminated from the Derbyshire Senior Cup at the quarter-final stage, after losing 6-5 to South Normanton on penalties.

Kick-off was delayed by 40 minutes due to a lack of match officials, but once it started there was no shortage of action, as the visitors raced into a one goal lead by the seventh minute through Charlie Wilde.

The hosts levelled matters through Lee Wilshaw in the 27th minute, but Wilde scored his second of the evening in the 63rd minute to put his side 2-1 ahead.

Glossop, who entered the game having salvaged a 1-1 draw in the dying seconds on Saturday, levelled matter again just seven minutes later, this time through a Liam Guest own goal.

Guest atoned for his error in the 82nd minute after putting his side 3-2 ahead, but with seconds left on the clock Bevan Burey popped up to equalise for the hosts and take the tie to peanlties, which South Normanton subsequently won 6-5.
