Former Droylsden Football Club midfielder Steve Jagielka has sadly passed away at the age of 43.
Steve - the brother of Sheffield United defender Phil - played for the Bloods during the 2006/07 season and helped them win promotion to the Conference National during a successful period for The Butcher's Arms club.
The news was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon (17 March).
Sale-born Steve started his career at Stoke City in 1996 before breaking through at Shrewsbury Town, where he spent six seasons.
He then moved to Sheffield United where, despite the presence of his younger brother Phil, he didn't play a first-team match.
Steve then had two years at Accrington Stanley and played his part in their promotion to the Football League in 2006, prior to his campaign at Droylsden.
He decided to leave the Bloods due to difficulties travelling from Shrewsbury, where he had a plumbing business at the time.
In order to remain in the Shropshire area, he moved to Conference North side AFC Telford United - where he spent two seasons - before further spells at Hednesford Town and Ellesmere Rangers.
In total, Steve scored 29 goals in 268 appearances throughout his varied career.
