Final day preview: Curzon face the drop

The 2025/26 non-League campaign draws to a close for most Tameside clubs this weekend, with plenty still on the line going into the final matchday.

Firstly, Curzon Ashton face an uphill battle to stay in the National League North, knowing that a defeat at fellow strugglers Alfreton Town would seal their relegation.

The Nash’s fate is largely dependent on other results – a draw could be enough to secure safety, while a win may still see them condemned to the drop.

Elsewhere, Droylsden will look to make it to back-to-back NWCFL First Division North play-off finals, with visitors Squires Gate standing in their way in the semis.

Should The Bloods progress, their second-place league finish would guarantee them a home tie in next week’s final.

In the NPL West, Stalybridge Celtic are looking to secure home advantage in their play-off semi-final with a win over Chasetown.

Celtic’s opponents will be Runcorn Linnets, with the only question being where the tie takes place.

A point should be enough to ensure the pair face off at Bower Fold next Tuesday, barring a three-goal swing on the final day.

A positive result for Jon Macken’s side would be useful to Mossley, who will be hoping to leapfrog The Scholars and land a top eight finish.

The Lilywhites trail by a single point, but face a tough test, as they travel to play-off chasing Bootle.

Meanwhile, after securing NPL Premier safety with last week’s statement win at FC United of Manchester, Hyde United can finish a tough season with a flourish, as they host promotion hopefuls Gainsborough Trinity.

Finally, Ashton United travel to Hednesford Town, with their sights set on spoiling the hosts’ title party.

The Pitmen sit level on points with Hebburn Town at the top of the NPL Premier, and need at least a point to have any chance of lifting the trophy.
