Audenshaw boxer Bobby Faulkner extended his unblemished pro record over the weekend with a convincing fourth round win over Scottish fighter Jack Owens.
The 25-year-old was too strong for his opponent on the night, forcing a retirement at the end of round four.
Having not boxed since February, the welterweight was able to dust off the cobwebs in Farnworth and record his 11th victory in as many bouts.
Contests have been hard to come by for Faulkner, who when not training in the gym with his coach - former world champion, Anthony Crolla - builds swimming pools for a living alongside his dad, Rob.
Following his stellar performance on Saturday, the former Oldham Athletic and Blackburn Rovers academy player is not looking to rest on his laurels, and is ready to throw himself straight back into the deep end.
“It was my first proper step up,” Faulkner told the Reporter following the win.
“It was the first fight I’ve had where the other fighter’s really coming to win.
“It brought the best out of me, and these are the fights I need to be taking now, where I can show I belong at a certain level.
“I actually like the idea of testing myself against fighters who I might not be the favourite against, I prefer that.
“I just need to make sure that I’m always fit and ready to fight so that when the opportunity knocks, I’m ready to take it.
“I’m hoping to get out one more time before the end of the year.”
