Faulkner finishes opponent for 10th pro win

Audenshaw boxer Bobby Faulkner took his undefeated pro record to 10 wins after beating Ezequiel Nicholas Albarenga in Bolton on Friday night.

Trained by former world lightweight champion, Anthony Crolla, 24-year-old Faulkner took three rounds to dismantle his Argentine opponent, who was fighting outside his home country for the first time.

It was just the 2nd time the super welterweight had stopped an opponent in a promising career hampered by a hand injury last year.

After shaking off the ring rust in facing respected Tameside journeyman Dale Arrowsmith last November, Faulkner will crave sterner tests as he sets his sights on regional and national belts.

Arrowsmith was back in action last weekend against Sunderland middleweight prospect Beau Smith.

The self-managed Hyde boxer’s 3rd bout of the year ended in a customary points defeat as he put yet another youngster through their paces in his 136th contest.
