Exciting boxing event comes to Manchester

This weekend sees Black Flash Promotions bring you their latest boxing event- Manchester Mayhem: The Takeover.

The event sees six local fighters in action across one night, with the six all tackling tough bouts on Saturday night at Middleton Arena.

Black Flash Promotions, the organisation behind the fight night, is run by Former British and European champion Pat ‘Black Flash’ Barrett and was set up to give local boxers a platform to succeed.

“Through events like this, we hope to give grassroots fighters an opportunity,” Barrett told The Reporter ahead of the event.

“It’s great to be a part of their journeys, that’s what I love.

“There’s nothing more challenging than promoting, managing, and training these fighters all at once, but it is so rewarding.”

Two of the fighters taking part in Saturday’s event are trained by Barratt, at Collyhurst and Moston Amateur Boxing Club: 27-year-old middleweight Niall Brown from Stockport, and 21-year-old super welterweight George Killeen, both of whom have unblemished records in the professional game.

Also on the card is 20-year-old super welterweight Jack Swallow, who hails from Glossop.

Swallow is also unbeaten so far in his short career, having won both of his two professional bouts.

Another unbeaten fighter who will feature on the night is 21-year-old welterweight Josh Paladino, who is three from three since making his debut last September.

Elsewhere, making her professional debut this weekend is talented boxer Mae Astbury, who will look to start her career with a bang.

Lastly, light heavyweight Marvin Tomlinson will be in his action for the first time since February 2024, when he defeated Darryl Sharp in Oldham.

Doors open from 6pm on Saturday at Middleton Arena on Lance Corporal Joel Halliwell VC Way, M24 1AG.

Tickets are available via the boxers involved, but can also be purchased on the night.
