Droylsden to face Ashton in Premier Cup

Droylsden will host Ashton United and Hyde United will face Glossop North End in the first round of this season's Frank Hannah Manchester Premier Cup.

The tie at the Butchers Arms brings together the two most successful teams in the history of Greater Manchester's senior non-league competition.

Ashton have the most triumphs with 15 but haven't won it since 2003, while Droylsden - who last lifted the trophy in 2011 - are second with 13 victories.

It will be played on Tuesday 8 October, with kick-off at 7.45pm.

Elsewhere, there's another derby clash between two of our local teams as the Hillmen travel to Ewen Fields - the venue for last season's final - with the date yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, last season's finalists will both be at home against North West Counties Division One South opponents.

Holders Curzon Ashton will welcome Wythenshawe Town to the Tameside Stadium on Monday 7 October, while Mossley - who were beaten 3-1 by Curzon in the 2018/19 showpiece - will host Abbey Hey FC at Seel Park the following evening.

Avro have an away tie at Irlam and Chadderton will travel to take on Maine Road.
