Droylsden Musician Priced At 10/1 For Christmas Number One

Is football coming home for Christmas?  Droylsden’s George White seems to think so, and he hopes that his anthem can be the soundtrack to England’s World Cup journey in Qatar. 

But as the biggest names in football prepare to battle it out, George, who works at the Droylsden Village Barbers, is facing some stiff competition of his own – with a couple of big hitters ready to put up a fight. As of December 5th “Up The England” was placed at 66/1 on Sky Bet just behind East 17 and in front of Basil Brush.

When it comes to England football anthems, there’s plenty of classics that spring to mind. Having already put their name in the history books once, Frank Skinner and The Lightning Seeds’ Ian Broudie will be looking for a repeat with the revamp their 1996 anthem ‘Three Lions’.

If that wasn’t enough, 2x Heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury will be looking to lay claim to the crown himself with his rendition of Neil Diamond’s classic ‘Sweet Caroline. Though not being released as a World Cup anthem, it’s a song that has captured the hearts of many England fans alike.

Standing at 5ft 10in tall and weighing in at 154 pounds, it’s safe to say George is up against it with the 6ft 9, 265-pound boxing champion. The World Cup has thrown up many surprises in the past though, so an upset may very well be on the cards with George’s own England anthem - A song written on his guitar for the World Cup in Qatar.

Only a couple of days before the squad flew out to Qatar George met Phil Foden in person, as George was informed that his England song has just been shared amongst the England Team itself.

George said: “I’ve been out of the game for a while but seeing how well the lads played after reaching the final inspired me to pick up the guitar again. I’m hoping my song can help get the nation behind the team and spur us on to World Cup glory. Up The England!”
