Droylsden drop to 14th after defeat at Colne

BetVictor North West: Colne 1-0 Droylsden

Droylsden's miserable run of form continued on Saturday, as Colne edged their way to a 1-0 victory thanks to a Connor Hughes strike in the 46th minute.

The Bloods entered the game on the back of a 5-0 defeat at Ramsbottom United, and while they started the game brightly and created a few chances in the early exchanges, they were unable to prevent another defeat in Lancashire.

The only goal of the game arrived just after the interval. A ball played back to the edge of the penalty area was picked up by Hughes who darted forward before firing past Chris Thompson from close range.

In fairness the Bloods responded well to falling behind and went in search of an equaliser. The best chance fell to Domaine Rouse in the 74th minute, but he headed a cross just over the bar from less than six yards out.

Dave Pace's side, who are now nine points above the relegation zone, will be hoping for a much-needed victory when sixth placed Trafford visit the Butchers Arms on Boxing Day.
