In the penultimate fixtures of the season for the DCCL (sponsored by Complete Weed Control), the results from Saturday 14th September proved to be decisive.
In the First Division, a conclusive win for Dove Holes saw them crowned the League Champions ahead of the season finale, leading the points table to victory.
Broadbottom CC vs Dove Holes CC
The visitors won the toss and elected to field first, putting Broadbottom in to bat. Broadbottom made 126 all out (37.3) with the top score going to the Extras (26). There were four wickets each for Dove’s D. Gilbride (4-50 from 12 overs, 1 maiden) and D. Waterhouse (4-25 from 9 overs, 3 maidens). In response, Dove Holes made 128-2 (33.1) with D. Jones making 61 not out. Both of the wickets went to O. Pratt who took 2-41 (7). Dove Holes took the win by 8 wickets. [Broadbottom 3 points, Dove Holes 20 points]
Dinting CC vs Pott Shrigley CC
Dinting won the toss and elected to field first. Pott Shrigley made 257-8 (45) with C. Oakes top scoring on 69 (eight 4’s and three 6’s). There were 3 wickets for Dinting’s T. Pugh (3-45 from 11 overs). In response, Dinting reached 175-7 (35) with J. Lythgoe hitting 57 not out (ten 4’s and one 6). Pott Shrigley’s C. Oakes took 3-41 (9). Pott Shrigley won by 82 runs. Hazel Grove CC vs Hayfield CC
Hayfield won the toss and elected to field first, putting the home side in to bat. Hazel Grove made 112 all out with Captain M. Coram hitting 44 runs. Hayfield’s D. Evans took a storming 8-26 (7.2) with 3 maidens. In response, Hayfield could only reach 69 all out (22.2). There was another incredible 8 wicket haul, this time from Hazel Grove’s K. Arora who posted 8-15 (7.2) with 3 maidens. A bowling masterclass! Hazel Grove won by 43 runs. [Hazel Grove 16 points, Hayfield 5 points]
Newton CC vs Stalybridge CC
Newton won the toss and elected to field first. Stalybridge made 209 all out (40.2) with C. Easter top scoring on 53 runs. Newton’s P. Littlewood took 4-45 (12) with 1 maiden. In response, Newton made 213-8 (43.3) their opener, C. Williams, top scoring on 125 (fifteen 4’s and six 6’s). Stalybridge’s Z. Naseer took an impressive 6-47 (12) with 2 maidens. Newton won by 2 wickets. [Newton 20 points, Stalybridge 9 points]
Tintwistle CC vs New Mills CC
The visitors won the toss and elected to field first, putting Tintwistle into bat. Tintwistle made 158 all out (41.5) with C. Tipper top scoring on 75 runs (seven 4’s and three 6’s). New Mills’ J. Stevens took a Michelle; 5-46 (11.5) with 2 maidens. In response, New Mills could only reach 100 all out (29.4) with T. Littler making 40 runs. There were three wickets each for Tintwistle’s T. Scott (3-15 from 12, 5 maidens), C. Tipper (5-56 from 11, 1 maiden) and S. Rose (3-11 from 2.4). Tintwistle won by 58 runs. [Tintwistle 18 points, New Mills 6 points]
Whaley Bridge CC vs Old Glossop CC
The home side won the toss and elected to field first. Old Glossop made 193-7 (45) with E. Lumb top scoring on 44 runs. Whaley’s H. Holden took 2-48 (12) with 2 maidens. In response,
Whaley made 193-8 (45) with D. Jones top scoring on 38. There was a three-wicket hattrick from Old Glossop’s R. Adderley (3-35 from 12, 3 maidens) and a further three from E. Walsh (3-52 from 11). The match was tied. [Whaley Bridge 14 points, Old Glossop 15 points]
