Darts legend visits Glossop

Darts world number six Nathan Aspinall paid a visit to Hadfield Infant School last week for a darts and quiz night.

The Dinting resident took on staff in a ‘staff vs The Asp’ tournament, and fans also had the opportunity to pay and play against the 2023 World Matchplay champion, including our very own sports editor Lewis Connell and Tameside Radio’s Drivetime presenter Cameron Kennedy.

All proceeds from the night went towards purchasing new guided reading books for the children, with over £2,397 raised overall.

Following the event, Leanne de Vega-Oldham, assistant headteacher at Hadfield Infant School, commented: “It was an amazing community event that was our most successful fundraiser to date raising over £2,000 for reading books for the school.

“Thank you to everyone that supported and attended the evening and for helping us raise a phenomenal amount.

“A big thank you to Nathan Aspinall, and Adam Corbally who compered, as they both made the evening a night to remember.”
