Curzon under 7's raise £5K for Cancer Research UK

A Curzon Ashton youth team has recently come together to raise a huge sum for charity.

The Nash’s under 7’s side raised £4693 for Cancer Research UK, by completing the ‘Pretty Muddy Race for Life’.

The players, along with their parents, took part in the 5k obstacle course at Tatton Park, with the aim of raising £2000 for the cancer charity.

This target was smashed, with the youngsters raising just shy of £5,000 in less than a month.

The club are hopeful this figure can continue to rise in the coming weeks, and donations are still being taken via an online fundraising page- if you would like to donate, just visit:

This isn’t the first time the team and parents have come together for a great cause either, at Christmas Curzon’s under 7’s donated over 60 presents to Wood Street Misson, a Manchester based charity who pass toys to less fortunate children over the festive period.

Following the fantastic achievement, Curzon Ashton’s under 7’s coach, Anthony Park, said:

“The boys wanted to come together for a great cause, driven by family members and friends of the group currently going through cancer.

“One of the player’s grandads who very rarely misses a game is currently being treated for cancer, and Liam, a brother of one of the players, lost his fight to cancer 2 years ago.

“We are so proud of them, both occasions have brought plenty of questions and stories from the lads that help them understand why we need to raise awareness, money and toys for these charities and for me that’s what it’s all about.

“We feel it’s our role at the club not just to provide them a fun learning environment for football, but an environment that contributes to the lads growing up to be good people with sound morals and values.

“I’m over the moon with what we have raised, and how the U7s family of parents and kids have come together once again for another great cause.”
