Curzon suffer pre season defeat

Curzon Ashton suffered a  2-1 defeat against Altrincham FC at the Tameside Stadium.

The visitors opened the scoring with a goal from Joe Nuttall in the 47th minute.

Curzon came back stronger after conceding and found the back of the net in the 67th minute to set up an exciting final 30 minutes in the pre-season encounter.

Altrincham responded quickly to the threat that Curzon Ashton were posing as they scored in the 70th minute, courtesy of a goal from Max Haygarth.

Despite their best efforts, Craig Mahon’s men were not able to find another equaliser and suffered a defeat in their penultimate pre-season match.

“We don’t like losing games, but I think there’s a lot more positives that come from that. The negatives, there’s a couple of things we will watch back and try to better at, but when I look over the whole game, I’m really happy with the boys and how they addressed the situation,” said Curzon manager.

The Nash will play another friendly against FC Halifax Town FC on August 3 before starting their campaign against Needham Market.
