Curzon snap up young full-back

Curzon Ashton have continued to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2020-21 season, with the capture of defender Matty Waters.

The left-back arrives at the Tameside Stadium following his departure from fellow National League North side Chester FC, after choosing to reject a new deal at the Deva Stadium.

The 22-year-old, who was a product of Chester's youth academy, scored six goals in 67 games with the Seals after signing his first professional deal with the club in 2016.

But the Southend-born player made just 10 appearances last term in the National League North, with his last outing for Chester coming in their play-off defeat to Altrincham.

Reacting to his move, Waters tweeted:

He's the latest in a number of new faces to join the Ashton-based club as new boss Steve Cunningham prepares for his first season in charge, which is set to begin on Saturday 3 October.
