Curzon land Leamington stopper

Following the departure of their number one Bobby Jones, Curzon Ashton have moved quickly to secure his replacement.

The Nash have secured the signature of talented shot stopper Callum Hawkins, who joins on a three-year contract from fellow National League North side Leamington.

In three seasons with the club, the 25-year-old has racked up 132 appearances and 41 clean sheets, and was a key to the Brakes achieving promotion back to the National League North in the 2023/24 campaign.

The former Burton Albion man will hope to become a hero amongst Curzon fans going forward, but he was very much the villain on his last visit to the Tameside Stadium.

Hawkins produced an inspired display in Leamington’s 1-1 draw away to The Nash on the final day of last season to deny them a crucial win in their quest for the play-offs.

Following his signing, Hawkins told the club:

“I’m delighted to be joining Curzon, it definitely felt like a perfect move for me and after speaking to the gaffer and Kieran I was 100% on board with the ambition and goals going forward.

“I’ve always admired the style of football that is played here on the occasions when I’ve played against Curzon with Leamington, so I’m delighted to be a part of it.”
