Manchester Premier Cup quarter-final: Curzon Ashton 0-1 Avro
Manchester Premier Cup champions Curzon Ashton were knocked out of the competition at the first hurdle on Tuesday night, as near neighbours Avro ran out 1-0 winners at the Tameside Stadium.
Curzon entered the competition at this stage due to their position as reigning champions, whilst Avro beat Radcliffe 5-2 in the first round last month.
Despite the three division gulf between the sides, Avro took the surprise victory thanks to Liam Ellis' strike in the 34th minute.
Avro will now move into the semi-final and could face the winner of one of the following quarter-final ties to be played in the coming weeks:
After squandering a two-goal lead at home to Prescot Cables on Saturday, Hyde United spared their FA Cup blushes with a 1-0 win in Tuesday’s First Qualifying Round replay.
Glossop motorsport sensation Alisha Palmowski picked up her fourth podium of the F1 Academy season over the weekend, racing to a second-place finish in Race 2 in Zandvoort.
Manchester faced Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend following their disappointing result against Tottenham the week before, and it’s fair to say that Pep and his players would’ve been hoping for a good result heading into the first international break of the season.
