The only Tameside club left in this year’s FA Trophy have discovered their third-round opponents.
After seeing off NPL Premier side Ilkeston Town in the previous round, Curzon Ashton will welcome fellow National League North side Marine to the Tameside Stadium, as The Nash look to progress to the fourth round for the first time in their history.
Much like Curzon, Marine also booked their place in the third round with a win over NPL Premier opposition, seeing off Stocksbridge Park Steels at home.
The pair have already met once before this season, with Mark Bradshaw’s side thrashing The Mariners 4-0 in Merseyside, following an early red card for Leigh Whelan.
Should The Nash once again defeat their Crosby based opposition, they would be just four wins away from a trip to Wembley for May's final.
The tie is set to take place on Saturday December 13.
Tuesday night saw Ashton United pass up on the chance to set up an all-Ashton Manchester Premier Cup Final, with Tameside neighbours Droylsden picking up a shock semi-final victory at Hurst Cross.
Following their loss at home to Real Madrid last week, knocking them out of the Champions League, Manchester City faced arguably a tougher test against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup Final on Sunday.
Local gymnast Poppy Blair has delivered an inspiring return to competition, showcasing resilience, determination and exceptional commitment after a year of significant challenges.
