Curzon appoint Adam Barton as first team manager

Following the departure of first team manager Mark Bradshaw earlier this week, Curzon Ashton have announced the appointment of current midfielder Adam Barton. 

Since joining the club from Farsley Celtic in 2021, Barton has made over 200 appearances for The Nash, establishing himself as one of the main leaders in the dressing room.  

The 35-year-old has a wealth of National League North experience, having spent the last six seasons in the division, and will take charge for the final seven games of the campaign. 

He will be joined in the dugout by current Curzon right back Jordan Richards, who likewise made the switch from Farsley in 2021, with the pair set to continue their playing duties for the remainder of the season.  

Barton and Richards will be assisted off the field by an unchanged backroom staff consisting of Kieran Bentley, Jack Salkeld and Rory Shadbolt. 

Following the appointment, new Curzon Ashton chairman Jim Newall commented: 

“We are delighted to promote Adam and Jordan to the positions of Manager and Assistant Manager.  

“Both men have given so much to the club as players and we as a Board believe they are more than capable of stepping up into management and driving us forward. 

“We have seen in previous seasons how promoting from within can bring great success and we hope with this appointment the club can continue to progress. 

“We recognise that this season hasn’t gone as well as we would have hoped and we want to give Adam and Jordan adequate time to put their stamp on the team and prepare for next season.” 

Speaking on the departure of Mark Bradshaw, Newall added: 

“On behalf of the Board we also want to say a huge thank you to our previous Head Coach Mark Bradshaw on his long time service to the club.  

“Mark has given everything in his roles as Coach, Assistant Manager and Manager and we wish him well for the future.”
