Curran returns to Curzon

Curzon Ashton have announced the re-signing of midfielder Alex Curran, who has joined the club from Macclesfield for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old has signed a deal which will see him stay with The Nash until 2027.

This will be his second permanent spell at the Tameside Stadium, having previously joined on loan from Stockport County in 2020 before making the move permanent in the summer of 2021.

Curran made 40 National North appearances for The Nash in the 2021/22 season, scoring 11 goals, before making the move to Macclesfield in July 2022.

Since then, the attacking midfielder has made over 100 appearances for The Silkmen, guiding them to the Northern Premier League West title in 2023/24, and finishing as the club’s top scorer in the process.

The former FC United man has also played a part in Macclesfield’s NPL Premier Division title charge this season, with Robbie Savage’s side currently 17 points clear at the top of the table.

Speaking on the signing, Curzon Ashton assistant manager, Mark Bradshaw, said:

“The management team with the support of the board have worked for the past three weeks to secure Alex’s signature.

“He is a player that is different to the other options in our squad with qualities that will increase our goal scoring and goal opportunities.

“Alex is a true professional who has unfinished business at Curzon Ashton.”

This Saturday could see Curran make his third debut for the club, as Craig Mahon's side take on King's Lynn Town at the Tameside Stadium.
