Cup final bound

Saturday saw Glossop North End Community Club storm into the final of the Derbyshire FA County Cup Junior North with an emphatic 7–1 victory over Youlgrave United, overcoming early adversity and atrocious weather conditions to deliver a dominant performance.

Despite a bright start, Glossop were stunned when Youlgrave United grabbed the opening goal.

But the response from the Blues was instant and clinical.

Alex Elliott, Brandon Wood, and Harry Vennard all found the net before half-time, giving Glossop a firm grip on the tie as the rain and wind intensified around the Ellen White Pitch.

Captain Alex Elliott led by example throughout—and he wasn’t finished.

In a one-sided second half, he completed his well-deserved hat-trick, capping off a commanding display in difficult conditions.

Further goals came from Fergal O’Grady and Alfie Peck, the latter celebrating a memorable moment as he scored his first senior goal at just 16 years old.

The Blues attacked relentlessly throughout the afternoon, producing wave after wave of pressure and registering over 25 attempts on target.

Their quality in possession and intent going forward never dipped, even as the weather deteriorated.

This outstanding team performance sees Glossop North End Community Club stride into the final full of confidence, with eyes firmly set on retaining the Derbyshire County Cup.
