Clegg set to stay

Hyde United have announced manager Michael Clegg has committed his future to the club, signing a deal that will keep him at Ewen Fields until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, with the option of a further year.

The 41-year-old took over as Tigers boss back in January following the departure of Martin Coyne, with the club sitting in the NPL Premier relegation zone, and went on to steer them to safety.

Clegg’s standout results in the Hyde dugout include a 5-0 thrashing of play-off winners Hednesford Town, and a win at title chasing FC United of Manchester, the latter of which saw them avoid the drop.

The former Robins boss will be joined once again by assistant manager Joe Bunney, first team coach Aaron Wade-Young and goalkeeper coach Chris Shaw, who are also set to remain with the club next season.

Following the announcement, Hyde chairman Steve Hartley commented:

“After meeting with Mike and Joe and after productive discussions, I am delighted to confirm their appointments for the 2026/27 season.

”After securing safety in the final games of last season, I am confident we will be looking towards the upper end of the league and I’m excited to see what the future holds.”

The Tigers have already announced a number of departures following the conclusion of the 25/26 campaign, with Max Harrop, Kieron Lloyd, Tyrell Dawes and Ayo Quadri all set to leave.

Elsewhere, loanees Dontai Gabidon, Scott Duxbury, Damon Park and Li-Bau Stowell will all be returning to their parent clubs.
