City Watch: Blues strengthen grip on UCL spot

We’re approaching the end of another season with just three Premier League games left to go, and after the results on the weekend, not just City’s, but those around us, I’d say the Blues are in pole position to secure a Champions League spot for next year.

City played Wolves on Friday night, which wasn’t going to be the simple task that some may have thought, with the midlands side in good form going into the game, and their top scorer, Matheus Cunha, amongst the goals in recent weeks.

I don’t want to talk too much about the game, however, I will cover it before moving on to some other news.

The main reason I’m not going into too much detail is because there’s really not much to go into detail about, it was a fairly lacklustre performance from both sides.

The Blues did get the job done though, a classic scrape through 1-0 win, a Kevin De Bruyne goal in the first half proving the difference.

That goal takes him level with Lionel Messi on 250 combined goals and assists under Pep Guardiola. Wonder who that Messi guy is, he sounds pretty good…

All jokes aside though, with Nottingham Forest and Newcastle also dropping points in their respective games, I have a lot of confidence going into our final three fixtures.

Another point to note is with Arsenal’s defeat to Bournemouth, City are just three points behind the Gunners, so a second place finish really isn’t out of reach, especially with their remaining fixtures against Liverpool and Newcastle.

Moving on from this a little, a really positive piece of news I’d love to talk about is that Rodri, who’s been out  for the whole season with an ACL injury, is finally back in full training.

When I saw the pictures on City’s social media, I was absolutely elated, and I hope to see him back on the pitch very soon.

My only concern is was he slightly rushed back, the thought of another period out for the midfielder is pretty scary, considering our form this season without him.

City now face already relegated side Southampton on Saturday away from home, with every game crucial in securing a Champions League space.

Surely this one can’t end in defeat, am I right…?
