City Watch: Blues prepare to face Everton

The international break is almost over, with the Blues back at the Etihad stadium on Saturday against Everton.

Before I talk about the game upcoming, it’s worth mentioning England’s two wins during the break.

First was a friendly against Wales, which didn’t mean anything for World Cup qualification, but was always going to be a nice win considering the opponents.

The Three Lions, with John Stones the only City starter, scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes, destroying any hopes of an upset from Wales.

Our next international game was slightly more important, a World Cup qualifier against Latvia, knowing a win would secure England’s spot at the World Cup.

A convincing 5-0 win means the players will be packing for the World Cup next year in the USA.

Despite the two wins, the only City player to make an appearance was John Stones, starting both games.

Jordan Pickford was preferred over James Trafford and Nico O’Reilly in his first call up wasn’t given the opportunity, however, there will be plenty of chances for the youngster to book his spot to the World Cup next year, especially if he continues the form he’s been showing in the early parts of this season.

The thought of another international break in just three weeks is pretty frustrating, however, we have a few City games to look forward to in the meantime.

Everton await Pep and his players on Saturday, with the Toffees in good form so far this season.

Despite Jack Grealish’s good form at the beginning of the season, he will be ineligible to play due to City being his parent club.

I’m secretly disappointed by that, I would’ve loved to have seen Jack back at the Etihad!

Last season, the Toffees held us to a 1-1 draw at home, and with Liverpool already beginning to slip up, I’m praying the result won’t be the same.

We’re only three points off Arsenal who sit top of the league and two consecutive defeats for Arne Slot’s team, it’s blown the title race back open.

You may think it’s a little crazy to be talking about title races in October, but I honestly think it’s going to be that close this season!
