Charnock end GNE's unbeaten streak

Glossop North End’s five match unbeaten streak came to an end on Tuesday night as The Hillmen lost by a single goal at Charnock Richard.

Jordan Darr’s second half strike was enough to see the hosts through as GNE suffered their first defeat since mid-January.

After a goalless first half, Darr netted the decisive goal just before the hour, racing in behind and beating the onrushing Joey Oldham with a deft chipped effort.

Despite their best efforts, Lee Wilshaw’s side were unable to find an equaliser, with the home side holding on to seal all three points.

“I think it was a six pointer really, in terms of making sure that everyone below us stays below us. Unfortunately, we haven’t managed to do that tonight,” said a disappointed Wilshaw after the final whistle.

“We need to be able to adapt when teams nullify our threats. Unfortunately we haven’t been adaptable tonight, and we haven’t been able to stop their counter attacks.

“It was a difficult night, but we’ve got an opportunity to put it right on Saturday.”
