Chadderton are on their travels

Chadderton face a tough away trip this weekend as they travel to Cleator Moor Celtic in the league.

Chadderton returned to league action in midweek after being knocked out of three different cup competitions in a row. They hosted Shelley FC, who are challenging for promotion this season, it was a tight game for both sides in a 1-1 draw which both teams can feel pleased with.

The away side struck first with Craig Billington heading home from a corner, but The Chad levelled almost immediately with a brilliant lofted effort from Jordan Butterworth. Chadderton had chances to snatch the game and were even playing against ten men at the end after Carlton Pownall was sin-binned but in the end, a draw was the fair result.

The result left Chadderton in 9th place in the table but more importantly just three points off 4th place to place them in promotion contention.

Chadderton’s opponents Cleator Moor Celtic currently sit in 14th place in the league table but they have won their previous two fixtures. Their previous fixture came in the Cumberland Cup where they beat Wetheriggs FC 4-0 to advance to the next round. They will be looking to make it three wins in a row against Chadderton.

Chadderton will know that every win will go a long way in their promotion battle this season as they aim to be one of the top four that go up automatically.
