Stalybridge Celtic have made their first signing of the summer, bringing in talented striker Ruben Jerome.

The 30-year-old joins from Bury, where he netted 14 goals in 26 starts last season as The Shakers were crowned North West Counties Premier Division champions.

The former Droylsden man also played a key part in Workington’s promotion from the NPL West in the 2022/23 campaign.

The following season saw Jerome net 39 goals for Emley as they romped to the Northern Counties East Premier Division title.

Following the move, the forward told the club:

“I’m delighted to sign for the club. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the club and the fan base it has.

“I’m excited to get going and hopefully we can give the club and fans a season to remember."

Celtic boss Jon Macken added:  “We’re over the moon that Ruben has decided to play his football here at Stalybridge next season.

“He’s a real all-round striker and someone I’ve seen a lot over the years.

“He’s got experience and has achieved promotion from this league before.

“His goal record speaks for itself and I am absolutely thrilled to have secured his signing- I think the fans will really love him.”

Jerome's signing builds on what has already been a successful summer for Macken's side, with a number of important players committing their futures to the club in recent weeks.

Skipper Liam Tongue - who also finished as Celtic's top scorer last season with 15 goals - is set to remain at Bower Fold until the end of the 25/26 campaign.

The same goes for Charlie Monks, Jack Irlam, Max Leonard, Jack Tinning, Sean Tse, Brandon Newell, Kyle Brownhill and Charlie Doyle.
