Celtic lose out at Gainsborough

NPL Premier Division: Gainsborough Trinity 1-0 Stalybridge Celtic

Both sides survived early scares, but Trinity snatched a goal right before halftime to take all three points. 

Celtic got the ball in the net first, with Callum Harris flicking an Ashley Smith-Brown corner, back for Kieran Wells to sweep into the back of the net only to see a late flag deny him as offside. Trinity also went close with Butroid hitting the upright from a corner, the rebound unable to be controlled and deflected over the bar. Harris was proving something of a problem, with Sam Wedgebury putting him through. Harris got off a thumping low drive, tipped onto the post by Harvey Cartwright. 

Deep into stoppage time at the end of the first half, a whipped in corner from Joe Wilson was met by the head of Brad Grayson to give the home side the lead right before the interval. 

Lewis Hood was called on to keep Celtic in the game as Grayson got his head on a Wilson cross, but the Celtic keeper pulled off a great save to deny Grayson, whilst at the other end, a Scott Bakkor dipping volley was tipped away by the Trinity keeper. After a mazy run, Bakkor was again denied by the on-loan keeper, snatching at his feet with minutes left on the clock and Celtic once again face the long trip home with nothing.
