Celtic Boss Builds Squad

Stalybridge Celtic manager Chris Willcock has continued to build his squad ahead of next season in the NPL Premier Division.

Cameron Darkwah, a 29-year-old forward, arrives at the club and adds attacking depth to the squad for the 2022/23 season.

Cameron began his career at Stockport County and progressed through their youth system, signing senior terms in 2009.

He made his first-team debut in a 2-1 win over Barnet in 2010 and scored his first goal for the club vs Kettering.

Cameron left The Hatters and joined Halifax Town before moving to join Chorley under manager Garry Flitcroft. In that season, Cameron helped Chorley gain promotion to the National League North as Northern Premier League Champions.

Cameron then joined Colwyn Bay in the National League North.

He recently had short spells with Stockport Town and Abbey Hey and brings a wealth of experience to the club.

Since signing for Celtic, Cameron said: “I am looking forward to my new challenge and to bringing success back to Stalybridge.”

Meanwhile, the club has also signed Godwin Adabaki.

The 28-year-old midfielder played under Chris Willcock at Shaw Lane and now links back up with the Celtic boss at Bower Fold.

Both Godwin and his brother Osebi who has also joined Celtic have played together before when both were at Shaw Lane and Buxton. It was at the former where they won promotion.

Both players bring a wealth of experience to the club.

Godwin began his career at Rochdale and had loan spells with Hyde, Huddersfield Town, Southport in addition to Celtic.

He’s spent time with Mossley, Nantwich Town, Shaw Lane, Buxton and most recently Ramsbottom United.

After signing for Celtic, Godwin said: “I know the club and the gaffer quite well and I know what he expects from me.

“I can’t wait to get started and help the club do good things this season.”

Off the pitch, the club is looking for a volunteer programme editor for the upcoming season.

The person will support with the creation of the club’s home match day programme.

The ‘Bower Bulletin’ is a key element to the Matchday experience at Bower Fold and the club is said to want to make it even better for the upcoming season.
