Brown double sees Mossley to victory

Pre-Season Friendly: Cheadle Heath Nomads 0-3 Mossley

Two superb first half Antony Brown goals set up a convincing win in Saturday's friendly at Cheadle Heath Nomads.

The lively Lilywhites target man caused havoc in the first half with two superbly taken goals

Low on numbers for this particular game, manager David Fish drafted in four players onto the bench from last season's title winning under 16's side who will be stepping up to under 18's for the coming season.

The home side opened on the front foot and put Mossley under some early pressure while at the other end Mossley's trialist #10 twice chased down the Nomads keeper and on both occasions was unlucky not to score.

The Lilywhites created a number of chances before taking the lead on 21 minutes. The trialist #10 broke on the right and crossed for Brown to finish precisely at the far post.

Mossley were dominant by this point and Brown came close to adding to the score when his chipped effort narrowly cleared the bar.

it was no real surprise when a second Mossley goal arrived. Jordan Butterworth's pin-point left wing corner kick was powerfully headed home by Brown attacking at the front post.

The second half saw Mossley continue to create openings but had to wait until the 75th minute to find a third goal. It was substitute Harry Pratt who scored the goal after powering through the centre for a precise finish.

The four junior players were all given 10 minutes each in the second half and it was youngster Finlay Lee who came close to adding a fourth goal and was desperately unlucky to see his effort come back off the woodwork.

On Monday night, the Lilywhites continued their pre-season campaign and were beaten 4-1 at Winsford United.
