Bridge bounce back

Stalybridge Celtic bounced back from their FA Trophy exit in emphatic fashion on Tuesday with a 6-0 thrashing of Darlaston Town.

Hosts Celtic found themselves two up at the break thanks to a double from skipper Liam Tongue, before four second half goals ensued.

Jack Tinning powered in a header just three minutes after the restart before Benni Smales-Braithwaite fired in a fourth 15 minutes from time.

The forward then sealed his brace 10 minutes later before the returning Max Leonard made it six in stoppage time.

“It was a really good performance,” said a delighted Jon Macken at full-time.

“From the kick off we were on the front foot, we were really positive in our play, and it’s a performance we’re used to.

“We were angry with Friday’s result, we wanted a reaction, and we got that tonight.”
