Bloods make it six wins in a row

Droylsden once again showcased their fondness for last-minute heroics on Saturday at the Butchers Arms Ground.

Nelson Van’s stoppage-time winner gave his side a 1-0 victory over Stafford Town and extended their impressive winning streak to six consecutive matches.

The home side had numerous opportunities throughout the contest but could not apply the crucial finish. Kyle Oaks struck the post in the first half while Stafford’s goalkeeper thwarted George West and Elvis Amoakwa.

In the second half, Stafford’s goalkeeper made several more key saves to deny Droylsden and it appeared the points would be shared. However, Dave Pace’s side demonstrated why they cannot be written off this season.

With time running out, a sublime cross from the left was whipped in by Jnai Steede and headed home superbly by Van for his eighth of the season.

That result sees Dave Pace’s side climb up to 12th in the league table, with games still in hand on those around them. The atmosphere is positive around the Butchers Arms ground right now and the team is really starting to grow as a unit.

Droylsden will next travel to Cammell Laird 1907 in the league on Saturday, a team they beat 3-0 at the start of the season. Another win would see the Bloods overtake their hosts as both sides sit on identical points.
