Bloods keep themselves in playoff places

The Bloods were held to a 1-1 draw on bank holiday Monday against Daisy Hill, keeping Droylsden in the playoff places with a game in hand on all three teams above them.

Dave Pace’s side came into the game off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Burscough in the FA Vase but were unable to bounce back fully from their loss. However, they did extend their unbeaten run in the league to five.

Joel Ankers breaking the deadlock when his effort deflected off the post early on. But Ankers was on hand to open the scoring for Droylsden in the 35th minute, doing well to chase down a wayward cross, carry the ball into the box before smashing home past the goalkeeper.

Droylsden continued to create chances but were unable to take advantage for their performance. They were then made to pay when Daisy Hill scored from a direct free kick courtesy of Kaiden Barlow.

The Bloods continued to exert the pressure but were unable to regain the lead, although despite not getting all three points there were still so many positives to take away from the match.

Droylsden are back in action on Saturday for their ninth and final game in August against Skelmersdale United who are currently bottom of the division, having not won a single game so far this season.
