Bloods continue title charge

Droylsden’s 3-1 win at Route One Rovers sees them mount more pressure on those above them as they stretch their unbeaten run in the league to eleven, only dropping points to Ashton Town last week.

Saturday saw the return of Jordan Latham, who has been out with injury in recent weeks. And it didn’t take long for his side to make the breakthrough. Caelan Kilheeney’s initial free kick was parried straight into the path of Fuad Kasali, who made no mistake on the follow-up.

The Bloods had the better share of chances in the first half; however, the home side went close to level things just before the break as Haroon Ali’s effort from outside the effort went just over the bar.

Rovers would equalise early into the second half, coming through Danyal Yasin, linking up well with his fellow attacker on the edge of the box before slotting the ball into the bottom corner with a precise finish.

This wouldn’t last long as the Bloods hit back again through Fuad Kasali, a brilliant run from Tawab Djankpata found Kasali in space on the left wing, who broke into the box before cooly finishing into the top right corner.

Djankpata would then wrap up proceedings in the final minutes. Nellson Van played a ball behind the Rovers’ defence before the former cut onto his left foot, firing low and past Sulaiman Sajiad.

That result was made even better with fellow title chasers Atherton LR losing at home to Euxton Villa. Dave Pace’s side now sits one point behind them, with Atherton still having a game in hand.

Droylsden are once again away on Saturday, travelling to Bacup Borough who are 9th in the league table. The two sides drew 0-0 back in September.
