Droylsden kept their title hopes just about alive on Wednesday with a 4-1 win at Holker Old Boys, putting a dent in the hosts’ play-off hopes in the process.
Crucially, the win means The Bloods have secured a second placed finish, giving them home advantage in any potential play-off fixtures.
Nellson Van opened the scoring after just three minutes, adding to his impressive tally for the campaign before a flurry of second half strikes put the visitors out of sight.
Droylsden found themselves four goals to the good within 8 minutes of the restart, with Jordan Barnett, Cody Artwell and Kyle Campbell all getting on the scoresheet, before a late consolation saw the hosts reduce the deficit to three.
The win sees Dave Pace’s side close the gap on league leaders Nelson to a single point, but with two games in hand, The Admirals still remain in pole position to secure the NWCFL First Division North title.
With no league fixture this weekend, The Bloods’ focus now turns to Wednesday’s Manchester Premier Cup final, as they take on Curzon Ashton at Broadhurst Park.
