Belle Vue name first rider for 2021 season

Tom Brennan will make his Premiership debut with the Belle Vue ‘BikeRight’ Aces after being selected as their ‘rising star’ for the 2021 season.

Tom Brennan will make his Premiership debut with the Belle Vue ‘BikeRight’ Aces after being selected as their ‘rising star’ for the 2021 season.

With the Premiership’s new stipulation on clubs to include one British youngster in their team, Brennan stood out as one of the top up-and-coming riders in the programme.

The 19-year-old began his Speedway career with then National League side Eastbourne in 2017 and has remained with the club ever since; sticking with them when they moved into the Championship.

Now he is ready to step it up once again and is relishing the chance to test his mettle against some of the best the top flight has to offer.

Brennan said: “The Rising Star programme is a huge opportunity for young riders like me. Getting into a top league club can be tricky and I am very grateful for this chance.

“It was quite a surprise when Belle Vue approached me, but don’t get me wrong it was a nice surprise and I couldn’t be happier. It’s an unbelievable feeling.

“Since I first started, I’ve spent a lot of time on smaller tracks and I feel that to progress my career I need to be racing more frequently on a much bigger circuit.

“The National Speedway Stadium ticks those boxes but the support network that comes with Belle Vue is also very appealing to me.

“This is my first full season in the Premiership. It’s a professional club and to know that there are so many people there who want me to do well is very reassuring.”

Belle Vue’s Director of Speedway, Mark Lemon, added: “Tom has a lot of talent and he impressed in the recent British Final held here in Manchester last September.

“Not only does he have a handful of individual honours, but he’s also picked up a number of team accolades during his time with Eastbourne and the Under 21 GB team”.

Further Belle Vue team updates are expected in the coming days, so be sure to stay tuned to our social media channels for all the latest news.
