Glossop welcomed Tyldesley to Hargate Hill looking to avenge a 27-0 loss earlier in the season and didn’t disappoint.
After a very even opening 20 minutes, it was the visitors first on the scoresheet with a converted try to lead 7-0.
The two teams had contrasting styles of play with “The Bongs” opting to play a direct physical game and Glossop playing a much more expansive type of rugby.
It was this game plan that saw Skipper Zak Round skip over just before the break with Dearnaley converting to draw level at 7-7.
After the break it was all Glossop, who matched the visitors physical style but spread the ball when in possession.
Versatile back Joe Richardson was about to score on the left wing when a high tackle stopped him just short and Glossop were awarded a penalty try to take the lead 14-7.
Midway through the second half, Glossop’s relentless pressure saw Chris Sonczak sneak over and Man of the Match Tom Dearnaley extended the lead to 21-7.
Winger Joe Griffiths then got his first try of the afternoon and a bonus point for Glossop soon after and at 26-6 Glossop were coasting.
A second try for Griffiths sealed a final score of 33-7 and the delight on coach Kit Brammer’s face (pictured) was clear for all to see.
Next week Glossop travel to Heaton Moor.
