Hassan hits the target but Avro fall to defeat

It was a disappointing weekend for Avro as they lost 2-1 at home to Ashton Athletic at the Vestacare Stadium.

Avro came up against tough opposition in Ashton Athletic and Ashton imposed themselves on the game from the first whistle.

Adam Gilchrist opened the scoring for the visitors in the 25th minute as he finished well underneath Jordan Lathum.

Avro replied just ten minutes later with a debut goal from Callum Hassan as he smashed the ball home.

The second half was much better from the home side but that didn’t stop Ashton from going ahead. A solid piece of play saw Joseph Nicholson snatch a goal as he slotted the ball home.

Avro had their best chance to level in the final moments as a cross found Louis Potts who headed agonisingly wide meaning the away side took the three points.

The result leaves Avro in 10th place with 32 points.
