Avro hit five to earn first home win

Avro FC secured their first home win in the North West Counties Premier Division with a thumping 5-2 victory over Burscough on Wednesday night.

Louis Potts scored twice and Joe Rathbone was also on target as the Oldham-based side raced into a 3-0 lead inside 20 minutes at the Vestacare Stadium.

The visitors from Lancashire reduced the arrears before the break as goals from Cameron Dalton and Josh Dobie set up a fascinating second half.

But Avro made sure of a comfortable win by adding further goals through Jack Poxon and Daniel Parkinson.

The thrilling victory meant they doubled their points tally for the season, to six points from as many league games, and moved up five places to 14th - leapfrogging their struggling opponents in the process.

Next up for Avro is a massive away game at 11th-placed Congleton Town on Saturday.
