Astley Sports Village Director Left Overwhelmed With Response To Christmas Toy Appeal

Struggling families in Tameside are set to receive some much-needed Christmas spirit, thanks to the efforts of Astley Sports Village.

The leisure provider, based in Dukinfield, launched its Christmas Toy Appeal at the end of November and received plenty of donations from generous members of the local community.

Gifts have ranged from board games, action figure and magic sets, to toiletries, selection boxes and cuddly toys.

Mark Storie, director at Astley Sports Village, has been overwhelmed by the response to the initiative and thanked those who have made Christmas that extra bit special for those in need this year. He said: “The response has been incredible, and I say it every year but communities come together for people who need our support.

“It’s been fantastic to see the donations that have come in, the businesses that have donated and the gift wrappers who have spared their time to do it on Saturday and Sunday.

“Look out for your neighbours, your friends and family, as times are tough at the moment.

“I encourage everyone to get involved in stuff like this because it creates a sense of satisfaction. To everyone who has donated to our appeal,  the children will wake up with a massive smile on Christmas Day and their parents will have to worry one bit less about providing.”
