Another podium for Palmowski

Alisha Palmowski picked up her third podium of the season with a 2nd-place finish in Round 3 of the F1 Academy in Miami.

The 18-year-old started the weekend strongly, finishing just behind Campos Racing teammate Chloe Chambers in qualifying, who claimed pole position.

The reverse grid ruling saw Palmowski start Race 1 in P7, but the Glossop speedster quickly made up ground on her competitors.

After climbing up to P2, an enthralling battle with Mercedes’ Doriane Pin ended with the Simmondley resident falling short by just four tenths of a second.

Chambers then claimed P3 to seal Campos’ second double podium of the season.

“I was really surprised by the pace that we had, I think it was really solid,” Alisha said following the race.

“Even on to that last lap, we were close to Doriane, so it’s a shame we couldn’t quite get the win, but a great result for the team with Chloe in P3 as well.”

After Race 2 got underway despite the adverse conditions in Miami, Palmowski took to her team radio to express her unease, saying:

“I’m all for a wet race, and I really like racing in the rain, but I think there’s too much here.”

These concerns did not fall on deaf ears, and the race was eventually postponed.

Palmowski’s superb weekend sees her sit 4th in the overall standings, behind Chambers, Pin and Weug.

Round 4 of the 2025 F1 Academy season takes place next month in Montreal, between June 13-15.
