A local group organised a litter pick to help spruce up an area in Westwood that had been blighted by rubbish.
Long standing litter picking volunteer, Saleh Talukdar, recently formed the Good Deed Foundation and has been a Keep Britain Tidy Litter Hero Ambassador since 2019.
Over the years, Saleh, who lives in Coldhurst, has encouraged local residents, businesses, young people, and the council to take part in litter picking.
He explained: “I created the Good Deed Foundation to spread good amongst the local community and as part of the group seven people came together to litter pick in Kirkham Street, Westwood, which was so bad. We filled so many bags with rubbish.
“It is for everyone to play their part in ensuring their area is clean and that applies to not only the residents but faith groups, councillors, the council, local organisations and businesses.”
Saleh has been a Keep Britain Tidy Litter Hero Ambassador for seven years, which is a national organisation that works across the country to reduce litter, improve public spaces, and support community clean-ups.
He added: “After the litter picking, the volunteers had coffee and breakfast together.”
