A 12 strong squad from Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were called to reports of two walkers in difficulty on steep terrain in the Dove Stone area on Thursday afternoon.
Without a clear location the team immediately sent one group of volunteer team members to check Birchen Clough as a known hot spot for call outs and poor phone signal.
As the rescue party made their way up the Clough they received confirmation from Greater Manchester Police that they were searching the correct area. On finding the walkers, they were assessed by the Remote Rescue Medical Technician (RRMT) and then walked down to the team’s waiting vehicle and driven to the local train station for their journey home.
Team members involved for three hours, 15 minutes.
Oldham Mountain Rescue Team is on call 24/7 and funded entirely by generous donations and grants.
